Enriching the mind, spirit, and character

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

 Proverbs 22:6

Who is DCA?

In the fall of 1977, Denbigh Christian Academy was started with a total of twelve children in a kindergarten/day care combination class taught by Mrs. Carol Craft, our first teacher.  Pastor Bob Collins of the Denbigh Church of God became the Administrator, and Mrs. Dorothy Collins, his wife, took the position of Director for both the school and the day care.  From the beginning, our vision as DCA has been to offer Christ-centered class instruction and day care to our community.

The very next year, a four-year kindergarten class was added, and a year later a second 4-K class.  Both the school and the day care continued to grow, and soon it became evident that a school building separate from the Day Care facility was needed.

In 1985, Denbigh Christian Academy, as we know it today, was constructed.  Mr. Harold Stevens was hired as Principal and, within two years, the Academy had out-grown its new facility!  The building was expanded in 1987 to accommodate this growth, and in January, 1988, Mr. Norman Rush, Jr., became the DCA Principal. Mrs. Collins remained the Director of the Day Care.

In June, 1998, Mr. Joel Meitz was hired as the Academy’s Assistant Principal, and in the fall of 2003, the Academy began the labor-intensive process of becoming certified with ACSI.  Dr. Cecelia Short then became our Principal of Accreditation.

In August, 2005, Pastor Collins stepped down from his post as Administrator, and Mr. Rush stepped up into that position.  At the same time, Mr. Meitz became the Academy’s Principal of Discipline and Student Affairs.

On July 1, 2009 Dr. Short became DCA's Principal of Academic Affairs and Mr. Meitz became our Principal of Student Affairs.

In 2012, Mr. Rush transitioned to the role of Administrative Pastor at the World Outreach Worship Center (formally The Denbigh Church of God), while still remaining the DCA Administrator. However DCA's day-to-day administration duties were assumed by Dr. Short.

Currently, Denbigh Christian Academy offers superior class instruction in 4-K through eighth grade and contiues to serve our community in the best way possible—by enabling children to learn about God, His Word, His love, and His saving grace through His Son, Jesus Christ.
